| Philip
M. Buller |
For
twenty years, Philip Buller's painting practice has included working
in oil, watercolor, pastel, and other media.
Currently his painting involves representation of the human figure.
His intention is to follow threads of sensation and feeling to create
paintings to which he has as deep an emotional response as possible.
"To guide me toward intensity of feeling I use composition (the
abstract relationship of shapes) rather than narrative, as the primary
vehicle. In this way I feel I am able to uncover meaning from an unconscious
place. This particular process offers mystery, ambiguity, and ultimately
the chance for transformation."
His teaching practice consists of private classes in his Freestone,
California studio (north of San Francisco) and as an adjunct professor
at Santa Rosa Junior College.
In addition, Bueller leads "Painting and Presence" retreats in the
San Francisco Bay area as well as painting trips in the Mediterranean.
